MakeFileWork

1MB PDF upload limit

Compress PDF to 1MB or less

Use this when a form or portal rejects your PDF because it must be under 1 MB. The 1,024 KB ceiling is already filled in, and MakeFileWork verifies the resulting file size before download.

If a structural rewrite is not enough to meet the limit, MakeFileWork may flatten pages to images. Searchable text, forms and interactive features would not be preserved; the verified result will tell you if this was necessary.

Built for a strict 1MB upload limit

The compressor first attempts a structural rewrite that preserves selectable text. If that cannot reach 1MB, it can progressively flatten and reduce page-image quality until the file fits, within browser safety limits.

What does “1 MB” mean here?

This preset uses 1,024 KB as the ceiling. If your portal states a different numeric limit, use the custom PDF compressor and enter the exact KB value shown by the portal.

Verification matters

MakeFileWork checks the output bytes rather than assuming a compression setting reached the target. If the PDF cannot safely be reduced enough, the tool reports that instead of presenting a non-compliant result.

Privacy and document fidelity

Processing runs in your browser. Aggressive compression may flatten pages, which can remove searchable text, forms, links or other interactive PDF features. Use the largest limit the destination accepts.
