What this tool actually does

Compress PDF applies the requested PDF operation and generates a new document. Processing is local where supported, and MakeFileWork does not turn the existence of a download into a claim that every feature of the original PDF remains unchanged.

How the result is verified

The result is serialized again as a PDF and the properties this operation can prove are checked, such as page count and order, rotation, crop, final size or successful document creation. The evidence shown belongs to the actual output rather than an estimate made before processing.

Limits and fidelity

PDF files can contain forms, links, signatures, layers, embedded fonts and other objects. Some operations —especially aggressive compression or flattening— may trade those features for the requested result. When that can happen, the workflow discloses the limitation instead of hiding it.

When to use this workflow

Use this tool when the PDF opens correctly but needs one specific transformation. If the document is corrupted, cannot open, or a portal rejects it for several simultaneous requirements, diagnose/repair it or use the upload-requirement workflow first so the operation addresses the real cause.

Privacy and final verification

Keep the original file until the output has been reviewed in the destination application or portal. Supported workflows process locally in the browser and enforce bounded size and complexity limits. Verified target size

The output bytes are checked against the requested ceiling. If the target cannot be reached safely, the tool reports failure instead of returning a file that exceeds the limit.
